Now even the youngest students can explore the limitless world of computing! YouthLink has partnered with Code.org to offer Computer Science (CS) Fundamentals, online courses that blend online, self-guided, and self-paced tutorials with “unplugged” activities that require no computer at all!
By the end of each course, students create interactive games or stories that they can share with anyone.
All lessons align to all relevant computer science standards, as well as to the ISTE standards. They additionally reinforce concepts and skills taught in other subject areas by integrating national Math, English Language Arts, and Science standards
Coding for Kids: Computer Science Fundamentals (Middle School) is available to students in Oconee, Pickens, Anderson, Sumter, Lee, Clarendon and Williamsburg counties. Students will need access to a computing device (computer, laptop or tablet), Internet, and a modern web browser to access Code Studio, Code.org’s online computing platform. Each participant will receive a username, password, and webinar details prior to the start of the course.
All sessions will be led by an experienced computer science facilitator.
